Tesla has published four official Master Plans on Tesla.com. Two mission lines sit on those pages, dated separately. They are not one slogan.

The first Master Plan is a four-step ladder. Tesla would sell a sports car, the original Roadster, and use that money to fund a more affordable car, then a still cheaper one after that. Musk wrote that buying a Roadster helps pay for the low-cost family car, with the second model “roughly half” the Roadster’s $89,000 price. Zero-emission electric power generation is already on the 2006 list, so it was part of the plan from the start, not a later add-on.

Part Deux is how Tesla grows from a sports-car company into cars, roofs, autonomy, and a shared fleet. Tesla would combine with SolarCity and put solar roofs over integrated battery storage, then fill every major vehicle segment, from Model 3 and a compact SUV and a pickup to the Semi and high-passenger-density urban transport. Autopilot was to become a self-driving system ten times safer than a human driver, trained on the fleet. A car you are not using could earn money in a shared fleet, the same urban-transport idea Tesla later showed as Robovan.

Tesla published a paper, not a product list, that lays out that proposed path. End-use electrification sits next to sustainable electricity generation and storage. The assumptions, sources, and calculations are in the PDF. This page does not restate those figures.

Master Plan Part IV

Part IV sets a north star of unconstrained sustainability without compromise. Tesla describes bringing AI into the physical world by unifying hardware and software, with labor, mobility, and energy as the building blocks at scale. Optimus is framed as a way to give people back time. The mission line on that page is “We're accelerating the world's transition to sustainable abundance.”
