Elon, Explained is an independent publication for educational purposes. This page says what we collect and why, in plain language.
What we collect
- Email, if you subscribe to The State of Elon or send feedback and choose to leave an address.
- The note you type in the feedback form, and which page you were on.
- Usage data through Google Analytics (measurement ID G-8TZFEVKT8X): pages you open, a rough location, and device type. We do not use this to identify you by name.
- Payment details when you buy a brief or a premium feature. Stripe handles the card. This site never stores your card number.
- A small unlock token in this browser after you pay, so the brief stays open on this device.
Who helps us run the site
- Cloudflare hosts the site and stores signup and feedback records. Newsletter signups may also be copied to Webflow as a backup list.
- Google Analytics measures which pages are read.
- Stripe processes one-time payments for investor briefs and premium features. Stripe also keeps the email you enter at checkout.
- Some pages embed public posts from X (Twitter).
We do not sell personal data. We do not sell your information to data brokers.
How we use AI
This site is written and operated with AI tools. Humans review and publish every page. There is no public AI chat on this site.
Paid briefs
Purchases are one-time. There is no subscription and no recurring charge. Nothing to cancel. After you pay, an unlock token is saved in this browser. Clear the browser and the unlock may go away. There is no account login.
Cookies and local storage
This site uses Google Analytics cookies for usage data. It also saves a few things in this browser: the paywall unlock token, a flag when you dismiss this privacy notice, a flag for the beta feedback widget, and (for a short time) an early-subscriber banner.
How to ask us to delete your data
There is no public email on this site. Use the Beta button on any page and send a note that you want your email or feedback deleted. Include the address to remove. We will delete the matching signup or feedback record we hold.
Stripe may still keep payment records they are required to keep.
