Grok Bot

Grok Bot is the conversational assistant and chatbot product in the Grok family, built by SpaceXAI (the former xAI, now the AI unit inside SpaceX). In August 2026 it entered early beta as something more specific than a chat window: AI teammates that do real work, sign in to tools, and come back with finished work. It is not MACROHARD, and it is not Digital Optimus.

What is Grok Bot?

The official intro, posted by @bot and quoted here as a primary source, is plain: "Introducing Grok Bot, now in early beta. Bots are AI teammates that do real work for you. They sign in to your tools, use them just like you do, and come back with finished work." That is the product. Grok the model family still sits underneath, the same maximally truth-seeking assistant Elon launched in beta on X on November 3, 2023. Grok Bot is the named teammates product on top of that line.

It is easy to mix the names. Farzad (@farzyness) posted "Grok Bot IS Digital Optimus." Elon replied on August 12, 2026:

Quote Elon exactly: "Digital Optimus is different: real-time video human emulation." Digital Optimus is that real-time video human-emulation project, which is MACROHARD. Grok Bot is the conversational assistant. The two sit as separate nodes on the org chart.

Why Grok Bot Exists

Elon founded xAI in July 2023 "to understand the true nature of the universe," and built Grok as a maximally truth-seeking AI. The chatbot was the first public face of that work. Grok Bot extends the same assistant into tools: not only answers, but finished work from accounts it can sign into. MACROHARD is a different bet, an AI software company and, in Elon's August 2026 wording, real-time video human emulation. Grok Bot is the teammate you talk to. MACROHARD is not that teammate.

How it Works

Public detail on Grok Bot's internals is thin on this site. What is on the record is the product description: bots sign in to your tools, use them the way you would, and return finished work. Elon pointed people at the beta directly:

The model stack is the Grok line described on the Grok explainer, trained on Colossus. This page does not invent a separate Bot parameter count or a Bot-only user figure.

The Economics of Grok Bot

This site does not publish a Grok Bot price or a Bot-only user count. Grok the assistant is sold through SuperGrok subscriptions and through X Premium, as the Grok explainer lays out. Whether Grok Bot rides those same plans is not a figure on this site, so it is omitted here.

The State of Grok Bot Today

Early beta, August 2026. Elon said the wider rollout waits on two things: fixing basic issues with the early beta, and releasing Grok 4.6.

That post is from August 11, 2026. This page does not treat Grok 4.6 as shipped unless a later primary source on this site says so. The invitation to try Grok Bot is on the record from August 12.

What Comes Next

A wider beta, once basic issues are fixed, and Grok 4.6 on the model side. Grok 5 remains in training on Colossus, as the Grok explainer notes, and has not been released to the public as of mid-2026. Bot, Build, Imagine, and Grokipedia are the four Grok sub-products on the org chart. MACROHARD stays a separate SpaceXAI project.

The Bottom Line

Grok Bot is the assistant you talk to, now in early beta as an AI teammate that uses your tools. Digital Optimus is different: real-time video human emulation. That is MACROHARD. Elon drew the line in public. This page keeps it drawn.
